The sustainable footprint

The building of the Guesthouse follows a sustainable development philosophy as far as possible.

- The structure is entirely made by wood (walls, framework and parquet floor)
- In order to minimize the carbon footprint due to travels, the most part of the work was done by local companies (within a radius of 10 miles)
- Insulation contains 100% of natural woodwhool
- The solid parquet oak floor comes from french SouthWest sustainble forests
- The Conservatory was made with french materials in the Pas-deCalais region
- Several ‘light well’ have been created to beneficiate natural brightness
Twin windows in the rooms make the brightness longer
- Light bulb are LED ones (4,5 watt) or low-energy bulb
- Beds and mattressses have been conceived and created in La Bassée (4 miles from the guesthouse)
- Beds sheets in percale have been woven, dyed and assembled in Cambrai
- Pillows and duvet are from Rouen (Normandie)
