The little extra: a sustainable footprint

As far as possible, the guest rooms have been designed with sustainable development in mind:

• The building is made entirely of wood (exterior walls, framework, flooring);
• All the work was carried out by local companies (within a 15 km radius) to minimise the carbon footprint associated with travel;
• The insulation is 100% natural wood wool;
• The flooring is solid French oak from sustainably managed forests in the South-West of France.
• The paint, produced in France, has been chosen to limit emissions of harmful compounds into the air. The colours vary from room to room, and are representative of fossiliferous regions, in correlation with the paleontological theme of the guest rooms.

The veranda was made in the Pas-de-Calais using French materials;

• Numerous skylights have been installed to take advantage of the natural light. Twin windows in the bedrooms extend the daylight;
• All light bulbs are LED (4.5 watts) or energy-saving.
• The beds and mattresses were designed and produced in La Bassée (8 km from our B&B);
• The percale bed linen was woven, dyed and assembled in Cambrai;
• The pillows and duvets were made in France near Rouen.
• Even the breakfast crockery comes from a regional glass factory.

As far as waste is concerned, the bins for sorting waste have become a classic, and in the garden, the composter and chickens share the vegetable waste.
